Oldhammer-ish

Been away from the blog for a while, but I have come back to it. Facebook has been my primary means of all things games related - but I wanted to get back to chronicling my hobby and gaming via the blog.

I will start off my first post where I left off some time ago, with a renewed interest in Oldhammer. Actually, I should say Oldhammer-ish. My projects around this theme are more related to the experience and rules used back in the day as opposed to the collecting of miniatures from Citadel, Marauder, and the like. I have some of those laying around, but the prices on eBay keep me from getting too far down the path of nostalgia.

My first step back in time will involve Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd ed - primarily painting any miniatures I currently have on hand.

I kick it off with:

CHAOS BEASTMASTERS

I changed the points value to reflect a Chaos Thug handler as opposed to a Beastman handler. I used the points value matrix used in Rogue Trader and WFB 3rd to get the points value, but am not 100% certain they are correct. Anyone who has used the old matrices knows that they can be a bit convoluted.

Modified points

Below is a pic of the unit. I fudged a bit on the handlers, and one of the Chaos Hounds. The handlers are from Warlord's Ancient Germans range, and one of the hounds is from Wyrd's Malifaux range.

The total point value on this unit is 160 points. 2 handlers and 6 Chaos Hounds. Not sure how they will work on the table, but the will look cool enough.
